2018 Training Conference

We have been getting numerous inquiries about the 2018 conference. The conference is tentatively scheduled for August 28-30, 2018 at the Island House Hotel in Orange Beach, Alabama. We apologize if this date doesn’t fit into your schedule. We are constantly trying to keep the room rates affordable for our members as well as provide a great conference experience. Due to various factors, August was the best option, for this year’s conference, that allowed us to stay on the beach. We are currently finalizing the details and should be releasing registration paperwork, firm dates and room rates shortly. We look forward to seeing you at the beach.

2017 Beach Conference

The 2017 ANOA Beach Conference is scheduled for August 29, 2017 through August 31, 2017 in Orange Beach, Alabama. The host hotel will be the Island House Hotel. They have completed their renovations and reopened however they are now known as the “Island House Hotel – A Double Tree by Hilton.” Early on-site registration will be on Monday, August 28, 2017.

The room rate is $149.00 per night. The rate is good for Saturday to Saturday (on a first come first serve basis) if you are interested in a longer stay. This is the first room rate increase in several years for us. We looked into several host hotel/location options and were unable to find another location that was willing to work with us as much as the Island House. We appreciate everything the Island House staff does to assist us with our conference. We should also have plenty of rooms so no one has to stay off-site unless they want to.

Conference fees are the same at $100.00 registration and $15.00 for membership. All forms will be on the website.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the beach.

Conference Certificates

It has come to my attention that several of our members are still needing conference certificates. First of all, I would like to apologize to anyone who has not received a certificate. Honestly, I feel this is unacceptable and I take total responsibility for the delay.  In an effort to streamline some things I decided to email the certificates after the conference. This was not my best idea. It seems our Gmail account did not like the attachments as some went through and others did not. However, due to the way the email is formatted when it was returned I have not been able to determine which ones did not reach the intended recipient. I have spoken with several people and I have been sending certificates and/or receipts as needed to members.

   If you have not received needed documentation you need, please Contact Me and I will get it to you asap.

   Also, I apologize if anyone has tried to contact me but was unable to; some of my contact numbers have changed. If you need updated contact info from me send me an email and I will send you my new updated information.

  Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience to our members as well as the lack of communication from me. I will do everything in my power to remedy the situation quickly as well as to avoid any further inconveniences. I can only hope everyone views this glitch as the exception and not the norm for our association.

ANOA 2016 Spring Training Conference

The 2016 ANOA Spring Conference is scheduled for May 3-5, at the Island House Hotel, 26650 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561, 800-264-2642. The room rate is $109.00 per night.

Our host hotel has begun some renovations that have affected our room block. We are currently negotiating with additional hotels in an attempt to secure a low rate for overflow hotel rooms. If you intend to stay at the Island House we strongly recommend you make reservations as soon as possible.

Remember to use the forms here on the site for conference registration. Make sure your membership dues are current. Existing members need not submit a new membership form.

UPDATE: The overflow hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, 29092 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, Alabama 36561, 251-974-1600.
The room rate is $159.00 per night. We apologize for the rate increase but it was the best we could work out on short notice. We were not expecting the Island House to start a major renovation prior to our conference. That renovation cost us numerous hotel rooms.

Post Spring Conference News

 During the 2015 Spring Conference ANOA President Clif Roberts announced he was not running for re-election. Clif has provided many years of service and leadership to the organization. His leadership will be missed and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

 During the business meeting Scott Kendall (Auburn PD) was elected as the new ANOA president. Amard Martin (Alabama A&M University) was re-elected as SGT at Arms. The Secretary/Treasurer position is currently vacant pending special election/appointment.

 There was an increase in conference attendance this year. Membership is growing and the organization is seeing many new officers from not only narcotics units but other specialized sections such as K-9, interdiction units, etc. It is great to see these new members and the increased attendance allows for more networking opportunities; a goal that the organization was originally founded on.

 The Cayman Grill hosted our Awards Banquet and provided great food and atmosphere. Thanks to all our members and families that attended.  Awards of Excellence were presented to five members at the banquet.

 The association officers are already working on plans for next year's conference and are negotiating with new instructors, classes, and vendors. We will be releasing info and dates as we firm up the itinerary.

Hotel rooms are $109 (plus 11% lodging tax) for a standard double queen room. The Island House Hotel is honoring the room rates Saturday, May 2 through Saturday, May 9th if anyone is interested in bringing family and enjoying the beach.

It’s a busy time of year so we would suggest making room reservations as soon as possible.

All training will be onsite at the Island House Hotel.

Conference registration is $100 and don’t forget 2015 dues need to be paid at $15.
